This month officially started the “Summer Blockbuster Season” and fortunately we had 2 great blockbusters. I saw 4 very good movies in May and was very surprise by how much they were good. I felt May was an excellent month for movie go-ers and I hope it translate to the whole Summer. For this purpose, I will be listing my Top 3 movies of May 2016 and my what movies i’m hoping to see next month.
3. X-Men: Apocalypse
While I wish this movie could be my number one, X-Men: Apocalypse was still a better movie than expected. After seeing the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and other sites, I really lowered my expectations for this latest instalment. I had my problems with this movie but in the end I thought X-Men: Apocalypse was still a worthy sequel. You can check out my review here.
2. The Nice Guys
What a surprise this movie was! I was not expecting to see this movie at all because i’m usually not a big fan of comedies. However, this is exactly what i’m looking for in my comedies – dark humour and a good story. I might just have to go see comedies more often. You can check out my The Nice Guys review here.
1. Captain America: Civil War
Before going in this movie, Captain America was my least favourite Avenger and I hate the first movie. As a result, I had some pretty low expectations coming in. However, this movie blowed my mind. What I loved was that there were more Avengers in this movie. I always did like the characters more than the actual story. Although, the story here was fantastic and it made me excited for the Black Panther movie in the works now. You can check out my number 1 movie review here.
I’m planning on seeing the same amount of movie in the month of June than in the month of May. I already did a list of my Most Anticipated Summer Movies (which you can check out here), but I feel there has been more movies announced since then, so i’m going to list the movies here:
- The Conjuring 2: The Endfield Poltergeist
- Now You See Me 2
- Finding Dory
- Independence Day: Resurgence
- The Neon Demon
- The Shallows
What is your favourite movie of May 2016? What are you planning on seeing next month?
