Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies of Summer 2016

Summer has always been a movie gold mine, where every studio releases their best movie of the year.

After looking at the summer movie releases, I was kind of disappointed. It took a lot of time making a top 10 list because I feel like there is really no movies worth the anticipation. However, I made it! I made a top 10 list, so lets get started…

10. Lights Out

For me, this movie is a test for director David Sandberg who will direct the up coming Annabelle 2. This was originally a short film, which I thought was suspenseful and actually scary. With that and the fact that James Wan is associated with this movie, i’ll have to see it.

9. Don’t Breathe

The director of the Evil Dead remake is at it again with this movie. I loved the Evil Dead remake and still rank it as the best horror remake after the Dawn of the Dead remake.

8. High-Rise

This little indie stars Tom Hiddleston which I think is a very underrated actor. The concept is rich and the trailer is good.

7. The BGF

Already getting comparison to Steven Spielberg’s E.T, The BGF is another movie worth getting anticipated for.

6. The Lobster

I’ve never seen a bad film from A24 and this indie film comes from that very studio. Enough said.

5. Suicide Squad

This movie usually ranks higher on these types of lists, but I have a bad feeling about this movie. However, i’m a big fan for Harley Quinn.

4. Finding Dory

Quick fact: Finding Nemo was my first movie that I saw in theatre and I can’t wait to relive my experience with this long awaited sequel.

3. Captain America: Civil War

I actually did not love the first Captain America but loved the second one, so here’s hoping that Civil War will be the movie to change my thoughts on this series.

2. X-Men: Apocalypse

I’m a huge fan of the X-Men franchise and I always thought it doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. Days of Future Past was one of the best X-Men movie yet and Brian Singer is directing its final X-Men movie. Here’s hoping he goes out with a bang.

1. The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist

Jame Wan never disappoints! The Insidious movies is one of the best underrated modern horror franchise. He successfully combines both old school and modern horror which makes him one of the best modern horror director. I’ll be sure to check this one!

I feel your pain. I’m finding it difficult to get excited about most of the forthcoming releases. I’m either entirely uninterested or bored of the offerings.

I must agree, “Lights Out” and “The Conjuring 2” are very exciting. “Don’t Breathe” looks fantastically fun!

Agreed. I have that general fear for most new horror films. They end up being these boring, horror-by-numbers trash, like “Ouija”.

Having said that, with James Wan at the production helm, so to speak, I hope that his guidance will shine through. Wan has an amazing ability to play to the audience’s baser fears. Fear of the dark doesn’t get more basic than that! Let’s hope that David F. Sandberg can pull it off! If he does, it will give me hope for “Annabelle 2″…
